Week 14: Bob Scholz on a heater this week but Ken Brown stays in it for a chop!

img_4589This week started out as the Bob and Bob show at table 5-7 as Bob Scholz could do no wrong – starting with multiple straights, moving on the multiple flushes, then multiple Full Houses.  Bob did fold a 3 at one point so he missed out on the quads that were destined for him in that particular hand when three more 3s showed up by the turn.  Bob S doubled up early to 40K++ when his 44 beat Mike Beattie’s A5 two pair flop with a full house.

There was a brief GasCard sighting
Beattie had chipped up early through GasCard after a K high diamond flush draw flop. Beattie checked, Andra bet out with her AdJx and GasCard shoved.  Beattie shoved and Andra tanked but folded because she’s trying to make better decisions this season.  Beattie had a low flush and GasCard with I believe 2 pair was out.  No more diamonds so Andra made a good decision.  Beattie then  cracked Steve’s JJ with 5-6 off when Steve failed to raise pre from UTG.  I hate when that happens.  Unfortunately, after a great start, Beattie ran into Bob Scholz. It was not a pleasant table unless you were named Bob.  Bob Rosetta, who didn’t have to miss a Yankees game to play this week because they were traveling,  knocked Steve out with A5>Q9 and had a nice stack going too which took him to the final table.

SuperDave Kaucher may need to watch out – Bob Scholz is thinking he should be called SuperBob.  We’ll give it another week.

Ken Brown, with 7 final tables this season,  has been consistently doing well and after chopping with Bob S this week he has moved up 5 places from 10th to 5th.  One win can make a big difference at this point or even consistent final tables.  Bob Scholz moved up from 15th to 9th with his chop this week.  Barry, with 8 final tables so far, has taken over 3rd place from Tonia.  Steve and Don D remain in 1st and 2nd place. We may need to have a bounty?  Chrissy made a big jump of 7 spots with her 3rd place finish.  Allen Wiseman final tabled again this week.  Allen had a slow start this season with no final tables for the first 8 weeks but since then he has final tabled 4 weeks including one chop for 1st and has moved up to 18th place that quickly tying  with Andra who started out well placing 2nd the first week with 3 final tables this season.   Allen  is a good example that, with 8 weeks still left, every player who is still in the league this season has a chance to win this though we may need to lock Steve in a closet every Thursday from 6:30 until the buy in is over.

Remember, if you aren’t in the top ten right now – look to the Black Knight from “Monty Python and the Holy Grail” for inspiration:

img_4623[they fight until Arthur cuts off Black Knight’s left arm]
King Arthur: Now, stand aside, worthy adversary!
Black Knight: ‘Tis but a scratch!
King Arthur: A scratch? Your arm’s off!
Black Knight: No, it isn’t!
King Arthur: Well, what’s that then?
Black Knight: I’ve had worse.

[after Arthur’s cut off both of the Black Knight’s arms] King Arthur: Look, you stupid bastard, you’ve got no arms left!
Black Knight: Yes I have.
King Arthur: Look!
Black Knight: It’s just a flesh wound.

img_4624[the Black Knight continues to threaten Arthur despite getting both his arms and one of his legs cut off]
Black Knight: Right, I’ll do you for that!
King Arthur: You’ll what?
Black Knight: Come here!
King Arthur: What are you gonna do, bleed on me?
Black Knight: I’m invincible!

The final table this week:

  1. Bob Scholz and Ken Brown chopped
  2. See above
  3. Chrissy “give me Caymus” Holubeck
  4. Barry Jacobs
  5. Don Dean
  6. Dave Bennett
  7. Reno
  8. Bob Rosetta
  9. Art Mackwell
  10. Allen Wiseman

Should we make next Thursday a Halloween theme?  We could all wear hoodies and sunglasses.  img_4597
