Week 12: Larry Legend & Ryan Johnson Chop Week 12 — One Step Closer to an Actual WSOP Legend?

Only three subs this week — Dan in for Ray, Chrissy in for Clive, and Sherry in for Mike R — but Week 12’s final table didn’t need extra chaos to deliver fireworks. Kevin James flopped a straight only to watch it get run down by a full house, Aaron Thivyanathan cracked Jay Capitano’s Aces to send him packing, and when the dust settled, it was Larry Legend standing tall again — chopping it up with Ryan Johnson for his SECOND win of the season. At this rate, the man is living up to his last name with win number 2! Here’s how it went down:

The final table in order of finish was:

  1. Larry Legend/ Ryan Johnson
  2. chop
  3. Aaron Thivyanathan
  4. Jason Barnett
  5. Jay Capitano
  6. Juan Rodriguez
  7. Andra Zachow
  8. Robert Thomas
  9. Kevin James

Massive night for the standings. Andra Zachow is still #1 after her 7th place finish kept her ahead of Team Jay/Josh, but her cushion is down to just a single point over Jay Capitano/Josh Nicholson’s team — the tightest race we’ve had all season. Right behind them, Larry Legend’s chop rocketed him from 5th all the way to 3rd, and chop partner Ryan Johnson leapt from outside the top 25 into a share of 13th. Keep an eye on both of them — and keep an eye on that last name, because if Larry Legend hoists a bracelet someday, we’re all going to say we saw it coming. How could he not win with a name like that?!!

Now for the real business: we’ve got 6 weeks left in the regular season, and the 15-of-18 rule is no joke. To qualify for a share of the league’s winnings AND a shot at the season-end Last Chance tournament — where another $10,000 Main Event seat is on the line — you need to play, or have a sub play for you, in at least 15 of our 18 weeks. A sub counts exactly the same as showing up yourself, so if you know you’re going to miss, line someone up! On top of that, you also need to play or sub at least 4 of the final 5 weeks, so don’t coast into the finish line either. And if you’ve only played 9 of the last 12 weeks: listen up, you have ZERO room left to miss a single week from here on out — every remaining week has to count, sub or no sub. Check your number, line up a sub if you need one, and let’s get everybody to the finish line!
