Week 7: Jason and Doc Brown Shake Hands on First While Andra Tightens Her Grip on the Season!

Week 7 had a little bit of everything — two subs who more than earned their seats, a run of sevens from Andra and Doc Brown that felt like déjà vu, and a final table where Saif Keshwani’s own signature hand turned around and bit him! By the time the dust settled, Jason Barnett and Donald Brown were shaking hands over a snap chop for first, and Andra Zachow’s 3rd place finish padded her lead at the top of the season leaderboard. Grab a drink and settle in, because this recap has got everything.

Poor Jack B. We know 45 is Saif’s favorite hand, but this is ridiculous!

3.Andra Zachow

4.Saif Keshwani

5.James McKinnon

6.Don Manns for Stuart Phillips

7 Mike Robinson

8.Ryan Johnson

9.Chrissy Holubeck (Greg Crisafulli)

This one had no shortage of fireworks. Saif Keshwani had the kind of night that makes for a great story after the fact even if it didn’t feel great in the moment — his signature 45 got poor Jack B. early, then he cracked his own AA only to watch Doc Brown double right back through him, and just when it looked like he’d turned the corner, Andra Zachow picked up 45ss herself and left the master on fumes! Speaking of Doc Brown, he was the story of the final table — a triple-up through Mike Robinson and Saif, then a wild back-to-back with 77: Andra hit hers first (77-7, like that Miami-FAMU score!) to double through Saif, and Doc Brown followed with the exact same hand the very next one to double through him too. Doc wasn’t done yet either, sending Andra out in 3rd with 44 over her AK before snap-chopping 1st with Jason Barnett to close out the night. Our subs held their own too — Chrissy Holubeck stepped in for Greg and battled to 9th, and Don Manns filled in for Stuart Phillips and made it all the way to 6th before running into Jason Barnett’s 88.

With 11 weeks still left in the regular season, this thing is far from decided — Andra’s out front for now, but there’s a lot of poker left to be played, and every single week matters. And here’s the good news for anyone who isn’t leading the pack: even if the season points chase doesn’t break your way, you’re not out of the running for a seat. Every player who hasn’t already locked one up through the regular season — and who qualifies by playing or subbing in at least 15 of the 18 weeks this season, including at least 4 of the final 5 weeks — gets a shot at one final $10,000 seat at our season-ending Last Chance tournament, with starting chips based on your season points times 1,000. So every point between now and the finish line counts double. And depending on how league funds shake out, that Last Chance tournament might just end up being a freeroll! Keep grinding — see you all at the tables for Week 8!
