A Christmas (or Hanukah) gift for poker tournament enthusiasts! It’s the Winter Poker Open!
New Structure for the first two events, only two levels of registration and two more levels of rebuy – it’s Steve “The Godfather” Trizis’ dream come true, almost but not quite a FREEZE OUT!!!!
With the “Gobble-Up” Derby Lane’s multiday event over (and TBEPL Alum Mike Beattie chopping the prize pool), event one, the 50K in a day tournament took place Wednesday over at the Hard Rock in Tampa. Event one had an “almost freeze out” structure. League alumni Kenny O’Donnell finished 3rd for a nice pay day with the skills learned in the Tampa Bay Elite Poker League. The winner of event one was Irfan Khairi, he must have been coached by a league member? Players noticed that, with huge delays in rebuys getting into the game, play was a little more like poker and way less like gambling (give or take a few.)
Tomorrow, December 5, will be a “who’s who” of Tampa Bay area poker as those who busted the first two flights as well as those entering for the first time will fill up the Hard Rock Poker room for the last flight. It’s so exciting to be playing this event again, it’s been so long for many players and with the World Series of Poker live event in Vegas being canceled, it’s been very painful waiting for the return of big live poker events. We are fortunate as many states still do not have live poker up and running. We are excited to see WSOP bracelet winner, and friend to many in the area, AJ Kelsall 2nd in chips for the first flight of event two. League alumni Jacob Naumann also already locked up his day two seat. Alum Mark Wiser and Steve “the Godfather” Trizis are still working on their day ones along with many other notables in the area.
So the question is……who will be there tomorrow, Saturday 12/5 for Event 2, the $400 multi day $100K guarantee event? Get there on time and BUY IN EARLY (tonight, Friday 12/4, if you can!)
